Spencer House & Jewel Tower

Today, Bre and I wanted to do some quick sightseeing before we studied for our finals.  We headed over to Spencer House, which we were really excited to finally see.  Its only open on Sunday and was totally worth the wait.  Unfortunately there were no photos allowed but the neoclassical interiors were absolutely amazing.  It was my first house tour I have done without my class!  After that we headed over to the Jewel Tower rich near Parliament.  The building has been used for so many things since being built in 1365.  It is one of only two surviving parts of Westminster Palace and now houses an exhibit about Parliament on the first floor and then an exhibit about the history of the building on the second floor.  After a quick day of sightseeing Bre and I headed back to the dorms to sadly start studying for finals.

Crystal Palace Football Game

Today, I went to my very first professional football (soccer) game!  All my friends and I headed over to the Crystal Palace Football Club at the Selhurst Park Stadium a little outside of London.  Everyone was super happy on the overground train, until we got to the stadium and it was raining.  Our seats were kind of amazing and in the second row to the left of the golly net.  The one unfortunate part of being so close to the field is that the covering over the seats was not covering us and we all we quite wet after the first half of the game.  The second half was drier but very cold!  Unfortunately, The Crystal Palace team lost 2-1 to Cardiff City but the game was a lot of fun.

First Rain in London

Today was another day full of classes.  They were definitely much different from the usual UNH classes because they are about film noir and Alfred Hitchcock.  I will definitely be learning a lot about film this semester.  I had a 2 hour break during classes, so we headed to the refectory (cafeteria) and went to the deli.  They have really good sandwiches here so lunch was really good.  After we ate, Sophie, Kayla, Caitilyn, and I went to go top up our phones.  This means to add minutes because when we top up the first time it makes our texts and phone calls to each other free. I didn't mind that we had to walk all the way to the store in the rain, mostly because I got to put my hunters on.   I was a lot of fun being able to walk through London in the rain though I feel like it makes me feel like I'm in London more.

After class Sophie and I looked at the library since we will be spending a lot of time there.  They have most of our books for class there, so you can just read them in the library and not go out and purchase anything.  After the library and dinner, we went out to a sports bar so people who don't have class could drink and so I could mostly just relax and talk.  Its very interesting how everyone drinks during the week like its the weekend.  I am enjoying just being out and not in my room, but my 9 am meant that I didn't stay out too late.  I really like that there is always something to do here, which means I will never be bored in my room (unless I am doing homework).
