The National Theatre & Globe Theatre

Today, I headed to The National Theatre with Ali, Kayla, and Kelsey.  Kayla and I needed to take a tour for our theatre class, but Kelsey and Ali came along too. The are three separate theaters in the actual National Theatre and we were able to go back stage at all of them.  Unfortunately, we were unable to take pictures because the sets are copyrighted to the set designers.  I can't wait to head back their later when Kayla and I are seeing She Stoops to Conquer.  

 After the National Theatre, we headed to The Globe for another tour.  I have done a tour on a previous trip to London, but it was cool being able to see it again now that I have far more knowledge about theatre.  We were allowed to take pictures at this theatre because the actors were taking a tea break during their technical rehearsal.  We were all really hungry by this time, so we headed over to Borough Market.  Kayla and I got some yummy vegan burgers and then we all finished off the day with yummy fruit smoothies.

Back to the V&A

Yesterday, I went back to the Victoria and Albert Museum with my English Homes class.  It was raining outside, so the museum of a bit busy but the British Galleries were totally empty.  Our class was about the Neo-gothic style, so we saw a lot gothic motifs like pointed arches, clustered columns, trefoils, and tracery.  We then had in introduction to William Morris since we will be seeing his Red House next week.  We saw his most famous fabric, called strawberry thief, and then later that night I went to go see Noises Off and they used that same fabric for pillows on set.  Such a weird coincidence!  After we learned about William Morris, we went to see the Tea Room that he designed.  The room was a part of the first ever museum cafe, so the rooms were all really nicely designed.  On our way out we passed by a room that had one of Chris Martin's performance outfits and as a fan of Coldplay I had to go see it.  After I took a picture, I noticed a dress in the case behind and almost died a little bit!  The dress was from Alexander McQueen's last collection before his death.  I still cannot believe that I was only inches away from such a masterpiece!
