Second Day In Rome

Our second day in Rome was filled with all the most important ruins in the city.  We started off at the ArchBasillica of St. John Lateran.  This is the highest church in Rome, even higher than St. Peter's and is the church of the Bishop of Rome otherwise known as the pope.  The church was absolutely amazing, and contains sculptures of the 12 apostles along the apse. The cloisters also featured a lot of historical sculpture and even columns that are supposedly the height of Jesus.  I of course had to stand next to them and I'm pretty sure that Jesus and I were the same hight.  Afterwards, we headed to the Colosseum and the Arch of Constantine.  We then went to The Palantine, which is the highest of Rome's seven hills.  There we saw Augustus' House (the first emperor of rome) which contained some very well preserved frescos.  From there we walked in the Forum and saw the most amazing ruins ever.  We then saw the column of Marcus Aurelius along with the equestrian statue and then saw the Circus Maximus.
