Weekend in Paris

This weekend Deby, Kayla, and I went to Paris.  We took the eurostar and went through the chunnel which goes underneath the english channel.  We ate lunch on the Champs-Elysee and then stopped into Laduree to get some amazing macaroons.  After that we went to the top of the Arc de Triumphe.  The views were beautiful and reminded me of my first trip to Paris in high school.  After that we headed up to Sacre Coeur, which is the highest part of Paris.  The church was beautiful and so were the views from the stairs.  After that we found some brie and a warm baguette and sat next to the eiffel tower.  It was a great end to our first day in Paris.

The next day we woke up and headed right to the Louvre.  We went in through the metro which meant we missed all the long lines.  I saw all my favorite artist and of course saw the Mona Lisa.  After that we had an amazing lunch in a very parisian cafe and then headed over to Notre Dame.  We went inside and then after we went to the top of the tower.  I had never done that before so that was definitely a highlight of my day.  Afterwards we went to the Rodin Museum, which is basically a garden with his sculptures all around.  We then went to a cafe to have tea and coffee and just people watch.  After we went to dinner where I finally had some escargot and a crepe for dessert.  To end the day we walked to the eiffel tower and saw it all lit up before we grabbed a cab back to our hotel.

Eiffel Tower at night

We started our last day in Paris with more Macaroons at Laduree.  Then we walked down George V, past the hotel I stayed at last time I was in Paris, to see the place where Princess Diana died.  We then had a nice two hour wait for the Eiffel Tower since only one of the lifts was working.  After that we had a nice lunch at a cafe and did some people watching.  We finished the day at Les Invalides to see Napoleon's tomb before heading back to the hotel to pick our luggage up.  On our way to the train station we passed Moulin Rouge and I finally understood why my mother wouldn't let me go see the windmill during our last trip.
